One more time, I haven't blogged for a while, but trust me final exams's pressure does really suck for first year students...

However, I am coming with quite some good news.
As usually, final exams period is not really rich, musically speaking; you know what I mean... Everyone's working so parties are planned at the beginning of the year, especially with Igloo Fest, probably  the best event of Montreal, which I'll talk to you about later in the semester!

All this is to end talking about something else.
I noticed there were many french students at McGill. So for those who are going to Paris during winter vacation, and even for those who planned to visit the town, something is about to happen very soon.

Where is it? Social Club, 142 rue Montmartre, 2รจ arrondissement. All the Djs you would be likely to see in the year, all these Djs, who will be, maybe in a few months, or in a year, know as they deserve, will be here at the same time. Shook, Cherokee, Kartell, Jean Tonique, and the new comer, Le Crayon will be there for your ears on the 20th of december. You should definitely come if you are in town, because this is going to be a really sick party. The club is really cool, not as much show off as many places in Paris are, and perfect to have fun with friends.
Drinks are not too much expensive and you can go in for free before 11pm.

I give you the link for the facebook event below, with all the informations and pages about the event and Djs, so that you know were to find a little preview of what you are gonna live.

It has been a long time since I lasted blog and I apologize for this but I am coming with goods news.

Montreal is going to be rocked in the next few months. A wave of chilly artists will be coming for your pleasure.
You wanna know who's gonna rock your world? I am here for that.

The first upcoming event will be the legendary electro master Boys Noize. If you don't know this Dj I highly recommend you to check it by yourself. Here are their best songs:

Oh! (A-Track remix): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvgx1ae7lQM

They are coming on the 6th of december at New City Gas. Although it is a huge club, it should be a really good show.

Then, on the 22nd of december, it is time for A-Track. Everybody knows them through their song "Heads will rock" orginially created by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but they have much potential, and they are known to be good live and have proved it.

Finally, in a completely other style Niki & the Dove will be here on the 14th of January at Le Belmont. With their psychedelic rock supported by electronic basses, they create a strange mood but which could be very appreciated by some of you. However, you should check their song "Mother Protect" before you decide to go, to have a clear idea of what you're going to hear. I love it but I can also understand that some don't.

Hope I will help you to organize your next months and see you there!

For those who would be motivated after Friday party, another huge concert in about to happen.

On Saturday, at Metropolis, several artists are playing from 8pm to 3 am. The ticket is expensive (about $50) but I promise it's worth it ! Have a look:

The first one, probably known by everybody is Paul Kalkbrenner. Pioneer of house music, he knows how to rock your worlds and his deep music coming straight from Berlin, the cradle of this kind of music.

Then we have Azari & III. Less known than Paul K, they just published their new album on the internet. You are gonna love the singer's voice, largely emphasized and boosted by a groovy background music. Their songs a going to drive you straight to another world. Overall they are just amazing live.

Finally, Seth Troxler is worth it too. His dark deep house his gonna make you dream and his huge basses are going to shake you all night long.

Hoping to see you there

What is happening in the next few weeks ?

This week, all halloween parties are going to take place in Montreal and I hope all of you planned your nights. However If you still don't know what to do I can advise you to go to the Times on Friday with Dj Flosstradamus (mix of hip hop and deep house or chill Dubstep sometimes, but very scarce). This is a very nice club and I'm sure everyone can have fun there. But don't forget to be disguised this is Halloween !

This is all good be this is still not the party not to miss. The one I am talking about will take place ... at Velvet. I don't know how they manage to get as much artists but they do, so let's enjoy it.
You shouldn't go to halloween party this week, it's kind of weird every times but wait for next week. On next friday, two deejays are going to set the mood at velvet.

Who are they ?

The first one is named Gesaffelstein and will warm up with trash deep house (check viol & control movement on soundcloud). His tracks are a little bit to hard to listen in a room, reading a blog post, but I promise he is awesome live.
Then will come Darius with his electro/deep house chiller than Gesaffelstein and you will fully enjoy him (check falling in love-Darius, on soundcloud)

Hope you will trust me and see you there !

Saturday night's gonna be a good night!

Gigamesh is in da place, place:Velvet (always)!
This american Music producer and Dj inspired by many pop artists such as Foster The People and Mike Posner has made his own style through many remixes such as "Pumped up Kicks" or "Cooler the People"and has reached a pretty high level or success. His cooperation with his friend Danny Daze (another amazing deep house Dj) formed "Discotech"in which they cooperate to mix even better songs. A sort of synergy is created and their mixes are very powerful and chill in the same time.

I personally have been listening to this artists for a couple years and I have kept following him since his beginnings and I would miss it for absolutely no reasons, including mid-term exams.
This is the time to take a break and have fun in the middle of this hard-working period, relax and have a drink. Furthermore, for those who have never gone to the Velvet it is the perfect moment to try!

Hope to see many people there !

Velvet Speakeasy

If I could advise you a single thing, it would be to try Velvet Speakeasy nightclub.

This place is just awesome. Its subdued ambience, red soft lights and big candles remind us of french nightclubs such as Showcase but it's very small. Most of the time, only one of the two available rooms is opened. It could welcome no more than 300 people which makes it really chill.
Since the beginning of the school year it has welcome not less than 5 special guests including Kartell, Cherokee, and Joris Delacroix. Specialized in deep house and funky-chill electro, this is a really not to be missed place.
